Monochrome Maniacs - The Painter
I usually visit Descanso Gardens during the week. I've been able to do that since I haven't been working. But I went on the weekend and discovered that a lot of people go to sit in the Japanese Garden to paint. It made me wish I could paint. This is just one of the people I captured. They capture images with a brush. I capture them with my camera.

Monochrome Maniacs
I'm cheating just a little. I'm not actually sure if this is black and white or color. I took some shots in both but some of them looked the same like this one. I thought this was really cool. It was a bug on the water of a little creek that runs through Descanso Gardens. I'm not sure what kind of but it is but I liked the depressions made in the smooth surface of the water where its feet touched the water and the the reflections of the trees in those depressions.

Not sure what kind of bug it is. I thought they were mosquitoes but they're awfully big for mosquitoes. There were quite a few of them literally bouncing around on the water.

Monochrome Maniacs - Foggy Morning
Today is Memorial Day when our country remembers and pay tribute to those in the military service who died while in the military service. Just wanted to take a moment to mention that. My hat is off to our fallen heroes and the families who beared their loss.
This was taken at Bonelli Park several months ago. I love the effect that fog has in that the photo must focus on what is in the foreground. Nothing in the distance to distract or add to the photo.

Monochrome Maniacs - Drill Baby!
I wasn't sure what to post this week so I thought this was at least... interesting.

And this is my nephew fixing my sister's gate. Hope he doesn't mind me posting his photo. Those were the screws in his tool box.

My Photo Surprise
While out taking photos the other day I saw this trickle of water coming from a pipe and thought it would make for an interesting photo. It wasn't until I got home to work on the photo that I saw there was something in the photo that I didn't see while taking the shots.

I guess I was so busy trying to get the lighting right all I was looking at was the pipe and the water. I never saw the little frog hiding under the pipe probably trying to figure out what the heck I was doing.

Play Time
How about a game of hide and seek? Okay, you count to 20 and no peeking!

These are my great niece and nephew, and I took these on Mother's Day when I visited my sister.
Hey gurlfriend! I thought I said no peeking. Well, you're so little I guess this is as close to no peeking as you're going to get. As a matter of fact, you can't even count past 10 yet, that was interesting - 8, 9, 10, 15, 12, 7, 20.... LOL!
Caught you!! Wish I was small enough to hide under the steering wheel. Next time mom can't help you hide!
I'm quietly sneaking up on you and .... Boo!

Watery Wednesday #34
If you haven't already done so, get on over to Watery Wednesday and see how it feels to get cyber wet. Maybe you'd like to pull out a water shot and dive in too.
This was another one of my shots that look a little abstract. It'a actually a large, dead branch in the water but I absolutely love the brushed steel look of the water and the way the water seems to fold around the part that is above water.

Monochrome Maniacs
I took these at the Los Angeles Arboretum. It was a little overcast so my lighting is a little off. I'm still trying to figure out how to work my light. I didn't even notice the baby turtle until I edited down the size of the photo.

I feel I have to explain this because even though this is abstract, it's actually a large palm leave that had fallen in the water and was partially submerged. If you look closely you can even see part of the leaves under the water. I thought it made for a great black and white and I really like it but realize it's totally a matter of taste.

Monochrome Monday
While at Descanso Gardens walking through the camelia garden, it was difficult not to notice all of the camelias that had fallen from the trees scattered on the ground among the leaves. I thought they made for some interesting shots. One day I'll show the ones in color. Today I'm showing the ones I shot in black and white. I really like these. Hope you do too.

Monochrome Monday - Leaves
I've been away from my blog for almost a week and I'm so glad I'm back! At least for a little bit. I've been working on a website and this was my first go at linking Pay-pal with buttons and a registration form and using cgi script, etc., etc. but I DID IT! LOL! I'm so proud of me but now... back into my photos!
Needless to say I haven't been out anywhere so I pulled these up from some shots I took last month up at the lake when the rain raised the water level. These were at the water's edge. I know they're not perfect but I like these.

Monochrome Monday - Bolsa Chica
Hope you're not tired of hearing the name Bolsa Chica. I added it to my title to make it a little easier for myself when I'm looking back through my posts. But, these were taken at Bolsa Chica along the water's edge along one of the paths.
I know some people may not like these shots but something about these dead trees jutting out of the water, the textures and shapes against the water appeals to me.

I like the shot below because the tree laying across the bottom looks like a serpent. Does the end of it look like a head?

Monochrome Monday
I wasn't expecting to post this much today so if you're looking for my Mellow Yellow and Today's Flowers posts they're below this one.
I'm sharing two black and whites this week that are completely unrelated to each other but I couldn't decide which one to post.
