The Aviary

I was only going to do one post but couldn't wait on this one so make sure you don't miss my pelican post below this one. I knew the zoo had an aviary but I'd never gone up the hill to it. Today I decided to go. As I neared the door this stench nearly knocked me out. I thought, "this can't be the aviary". Oh, but it was. I stood for a minute with the map of the zoo over my nose wondering if I dared to go in. The odor came form the pond where the flamingos were. Eeeewww! Those poor birds. But once I got past that pond the smell went away and I was glad I went in, still I was disappointed. The sad thing was I think that smell lingered in my clothes because I kept smelling it until I got home and showered.

Compared to the number of signs of birds living there I hardly saw any. This was my favorite. I'll be posting the others later after I edit/downsize them. I don't know what the name of the bird above is though I've seen it before. There wasn't an identifying picture of it among the other ones in the aviary.
