I'm so excited! I was out pulling some weeds when looked up at a windchime I have hanging. My face got all scrunched up when I noticed this matted mess on top of it. I thought, "what the hell is that!?" I have a problem with black widow spiders and thought maybe it was a nest. Then I remembered that story about a cactus shaking like it was a live then it exploded and a whole bunch of baby tarantulas were everywhere (still don't know if that's a true story).
Anyhow, I moved it by pulling on one of the chimes and low and behold! These little beaks popped out over the top of it and I realized it was a bird's nest. Because of how it's positioned close to the lattice over my patio these were the best shots I could get. I could have loved to get one looking directly down into it but couldn't.
Here's my bird's nest!!

TODAY'S PHOTOS 03/28/08 - Flowers
Man, I had such a nice day today. I went to the Huntington Libray and Botanical Garden and on the way home took a detour and went up to Azusa Canyon where it was all green and there was lots of running water. I took almost 400 pictures! I've edited the Huntington Library ones but not the Azusa Canyon ones so here some of the ones that are more fitting for this blog. If you'd like to see the other ones you'll have to check out my Down Around L.A. blog.

LAKE ARROWHEAD
I made a trip up to Lake Arrowhead yesterday. It was the first time I'd been there and I was really disappointed. It could be that I simply needed someone there to show me around but the picture above is as close as I got to the lake. I drove around the entire lake and never found a place where I could get down to it. I had packed a little lunch and everything, convinced that I would find a nice place near the lake to chill, take some pics and enjoy the beautiful day.
What a bust!!

DOWN AT THE BEACH
I went down around the coast this weekend to do a blog on my Down Around L.A. blog. I got some decent pictures. The ones I really wanted to share were those I took in front of a kite shop. I like them because they're so colorful. I couldn't leave without buying a couple of kites and I can't wait to go out and play. They're having their 34th annual kite festival today... it's going on right now. I just don't have it in me to take the drive again. Too bad.

MT. BALDY - Running Stream
I decided to go back up to Mt. Baldy today, see if all that snow melting had caused a good stream to run downhill and that's exactly what I found. It was such a beautiful day and the running stream was just the perfect addition to it.
