Today's Flowers #17

I don't know what this is. It was a flower that was on some ground cover, or what looked like ground cover to me. I thought it was a cute little flower.

Ports O'Call

Just a few more pictures from my last trip to the beach. The first is a statue that greets you at the entrance.

This is just one of the many boats docked there.

And this is one of the star fish I saw as I was standing at the railing looking at the boats. I've never seen star fish except at the aquarium so I thought it was pretty awesome to see this just hanging out at the edge of the water.

If you're interested in seeing a couple more pictures of this place you can see them on my other blog Down Around L.A.

Sky Watch #20

This is my local spot, Bonelli Park. As you can see, we finally got some rain and I loved it. I also loved that on this day I found my way around to the other side of the lake. In the first picture, if you look on the right at the tiny two orange bouys, the 2nd two shots were taken further to the right out of the piture looking in the direction of the first picture.

Happy Thanksgiving

I am grateful for so many things. I am truly blessed. Today I will gather with my family and together will we give praise and thanks to God for all that we are grateful for. To my fellow bloggers I just wanted to thank you for making my blogging journey a wonderful experience. I have enjoyed sharing my photos, your comments and visits, and viewing the oh so many wonderful photos that you have shared with me. Thank you for the ooohs, wows, smiles and amazing visual experiences you have given me.

This is kind of corny but I like it:

Where Lamp Post Go To Die

I went up to the lake today and found a section of it I'd never been to before. I'll post some shots of that later but, while there I came across some old lamp posts. They've been replacing them in the park and I guess these had not been picked up yet for disposal. Me and my bright ideas, I thought I might get some interesting shot from them. Here are some of them:

My World Tuesday #6

One of the things I miss about not working in downtown L.A. any more is the flower mart. Whenever it was someone's birthday at work I used to go down to the flower mart before work and for $20 or less I could buy enough flowers to fill two vases and have a couple on my own desk. I went this morning. :-)

If you notice in the picture below the green signs hanging from the ceiling. Each sign is a different flower vendor and they go back as far as you can see in the picture and beyond.

These are just a few of the close-up shots I took:

It was so difficult trying to figure out which flowers I wanted to buy but I finally decided on these (the ones below), plus and bunch of purple carnations. I filled two vases at home and all for the decent price of $14.00.

Today's Flower #16

I haven't a clue what these are. They were just all this tall, thick plant as I walked through the arboretum. I thought they were rretty and the colors reminded me of a Tequila Sunrise.

The Auto Show

I went to the auto show at the Los Angeles Convention center. I took way too many photos so I compiled some of them in a video so I could show more than the few I'm posting.

Problem Solved!!

I was having such an awful time with Mr. Linky. I felt as if I was cut off from the blogging world, stuck in a boat with no oars while everyone else was paddling around me. I don't know it was my removing a page rank option from my Google toolbar or if it was because the wonderful crew over at Mr. Linky help desk responded with a link that broke the dam but I'm back in business and can't wait to reach out and touch some SkyWatch folks! :-)

Let the good times roll! :-D

Sky Watch #19

I'm having problems with Mr. Linky and the list of names aren't showing up for me but I'll still do my weekly post and see how many others I can find to look at and give you the link to view. Maybe it's just me the list isn't showing up for (just my luck). These are more sky shots that I took when we had three fires raging out of control. Those aren't clouds in the pictures, it's smoke.

Snowy White Surprise

I headed out to the library this morning but it was closed. They don't open until noon so, I went up to the lake/park to see if I would be lucky enough to find an egret to photograph. Much to my surprise and joy there was one and I kept hoping it wouldn't get skittish and fly away. I got many pics and when I got home was thrilled at how beautifully they came out. I couldn't wait to share. (Click on any photo to enlarge.)

Western Sandpipers

I think these are Western Sandpipers. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I see these up at the lake, usually hopping very quickly along the edge of the lake occasionally stopping to look in the water for food. (Click on any image to enlarge.)

Watery Wednesday #10

PLEASE NOTE: For my Watery Wednesday participants, I created a separate blog for Watery Wednesday so no one has to search my blog for my Watery Wednesday posts. I hope it's not an inconvenience for anyone to change the link in your posts to the new location but it's easy to remember. It's http://waterywednesday.blogspot.com/. Don't forget to change the link if you've got the icon in your sidebar.

My thanks to everyone for participating and making this a special time of the week for me.

My World Tuesday #5

Thanks to my sister I discovered the Petersen Automotive Museum located in the Wilshire District of Los Angeles. It's in the building that used to be home to an old favorite department store of mine, Orbach's. They have a wonderful collection of cars. I took these earlier this year and I think it's time for me to go back because they periodically have new exhibits.

One of the exhibits was a Hot Wheels exhibit. They had a huge collection of Hot Wheels and then the life sized one in the photo below.

No one should ever say there is nothing to do around Los Angeles. I'll be gladly showing more next week.
