Black Duck - What a Beauty

Does anyone know what kind of duck this is? I tried to look it up and the only think I found was an American Black Duck but they don't look like this. When it swam out of the water on shore the sun was very bright but I could see the colored feathers. They actually looked purple and then sometimes they looked blue. They photographed more blue in these photos but you can see the trace of purple. Depending on how the feathers caught the light they looked purple.

I was fascinated by the color of this duck and really wished it had not been out in full sun. I have GOT to learn how to work my camera when I'm trying to capture dark birds. I'd welcome any tips.

No clue! It's funny to think about being in the water. It's 18 degrees here right now.

I've tagged you for 6 randome things on my site if you want to play!

I don't know about tips on the camera, but I've never seen a duck colored like this. He looks so colorful - WoW!
Thank you very much for commenting on my post today! I appreciate it!

I haven't seen a duck with that coloration before, but it certainly is beautiful.

I have seen some ducks in my life - there is a lot of them in a lake nearby. But I have never seen anything like this beautiful bird! Somone must have loved it from the start - and painted it in all the colours of the rainbow! And you have captured the colours so perfectly! Great job! And thanks for sharing!

It has all the colours of an oils slick on a puddle. Maybe that is not a good thing, but you have to admit it is pretty. And the duck is not covered in oil. If you know what I mean. I don't know if that's the way you captured it, or the way it was, but you are to be congratulated.

A beauty, indeed. I've no idea what type it is, though.

Yes, it is lovely. Does sort of look like it fell in an oil slick. I like how the dark one is next to a white one.
