HOLLYWEIRD

This is just a fun post since I haven't been out to take pictures.

For a while Hollywood and the infamous Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Strip had become so odd most Angelinos began to call it Hollyweird. I recently visited for the first time in a long while and was glad to see that they have been renovating the area trying to bring it back up to scale, especially around the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It's a tourist trap but rightfully so.

Who can resist the small thrill of walking down the street where everyone's head is down looking at the names in the pink stars that line the streets looking for names of movie stars they know and like?

There are actors and actresses walking the streets dressed like movie stars or movie characters ready to take pictures with you. There was Marilyn Monroe, Batman and Chubakah.

In front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre (below) it is packed with tourists looking at all of the foot and hand prints of famous movie stars, taking pictures

Tour buses sitting waiting to take passengers on tours of Hollywood and the movie stars homes. This is just one of the buildings on a corner.

There is the Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe It Or Not and the Hollywood Museum in the old Max Factor Building. This chastity belt was only one of the many thing inside Ripley's Believe It Or Not. I'm sorry but all I can think of is how awful this must have been to wear and wondering if it got rusty.

And then there is the also famous Kodak Theatre which is just a couple of doors down from Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

As always, wish I could post more picture but I'm sure you think you've already seen enough (smile).

Good post - looks so much nicer than it was when I was there 10 years ago.

This is such a fun post! Hollywood, even as Hollyweird, can still live up to the "glam" ideal to the tourist. I was there many years ago on a stopover, but never toured it.

I can't imagine places like this being 'everyday' and it's fun to see your view of them! :c)

Jayne - We used to hang out there a lot when I was much younger. Glad you enjoyed it. :-)
