They Rock In The Treetops...

Okay, so I don't have any Rockin' Robins to share but I've been wanting to share some of the bird shots I've taken over the past week or so. I had to look up a couple of these so I could share the names if I could. The first photo is of a few Clark Grebes that were swimming around together at the lake. (You can click on any picture for a larger view.)

The next one is a heron. I know there are different kinds but I think this is a Great Blue Heron. I took this on my foggy morning at the lake at it was just sitting there near the edge of the lake on the branch.

The next two I took at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens and it looks like a picture of an Acorn Woodpecker so that's what I'm calling it (smile).

And I could be wrong about this one but I think it's a yellow warbler.

And this was, I think, the most interesting bird in the tree that I've seen. It's called Dead Bird. First it took me a minute to realize that it was a bird, then another minute to realize it was a dead bird and I stood there for a while wondering what happened to it that it would die like that, up in a tree and wind up just hanging there.

I also know where there is a dead bird, but we are avoiding it, because it is in the half-eaten and ready for rolling stage. Canada goose, likely exsanguination. Yours is, if I can say it, better looking.

But I love the heron!
Thanks for sharing!
