Ginger Plant

If I've identified this correctly, this is a Ginger Plant. I've seen it before but didn't know what it was. This was in a floral display in the Home and Garden section at the L.A. County Fair.

That's beautiful. I have Hidden Ginger and it blooms a lighter pink bloom.

How beautiful! It seems very exotic to me, since my garden is in a climate zone that is way too cold for it!

Whatever it is - it's gorgeous! Reminds me of feather boas! ;)

Norm - I love the color too. It's what first drew my eyes to it.

Mary - I wanted to call it a Hawaiian flower but didn't know if that was where it is originally from.

Klaus - You're right! It does look like a boa! :-)

Very nice shots of a delightful flower. We do indeed have this flower here in Hawaii. People call it "pink cone ginger." I am not 100% certain, but I think the one in your photos is the pink variant of Alpinia purpurata.

Wow, it's a beautiful color. I love ginger root tea, and I like the surprise of shavings of ginger in my food, too.
