The Ky-ote

Guess what I saw today!! Okay, time-wise it's officially yesterday. A coyote! Luckily there was no one else on the road and I was able to stop and grab a few shots before I continued on my way. What a treat. I drove away singing, "I saw a ky-ote! I saw a ky-ote!" :-D

And in the "wild" too! I guess it would be a bit disconcerting if on bike or foot, but all in all very exciting. I got to see one when I visited SF last year...I forget the name of the area I was in...it's across the bay looking back at the GGB. Anyway, it looked just like this one and I too was very excited. Can you tell the difference between a wolf and a coyote? Not sure I have it down...

Way cool! Superb captures of the typically elusive coyote. It looks healthy and well feed.

Wow, how fortunate are you?! The coyote reminds me of the black backed jackal in South Africa

Wonderful pictures, Saxy! We saw one just at the edge of our neighborhood a couple of months back, but I didn't have my camera with me at the time. By the time I changed out of my Sunday clothes and headed back, the critter was long gone.
