Watery Wednesday #12

Sorry about the Mr. Linky problems. I really hate this!

I got up really early thinking I'd catch the sunrise for a change. What I caught instead was a bunch of fog. It wasn't a disappointment. I'd been wanting to get some fog shots.

I'm not sure if I like this one in black and white or in color. What do you think?

Definitely like it better in black and white...wonderful feel to it!

I like all three. It looks like a scene from a horror movie!

I like them all. The B&W works well.

Definitely the black and white. The color shot's are cool and all, but this just screams black and white to me. Then again, I'm kinda partial.

I'll dig up the EXIF data on the fireworks shots if you're interested, but just going from memory I'd guess this was f/11 at 1/60" ISO 100 or 200 manual focus and exposure. Plus or minus a couple of stops. All manual because the camera will insist that you're more than 3 stops under otherwise and refuse to turn the shutter loose. Because it doesn't realize that as soon as the bombs start bursting in air, it's gonna have all the light it can handle.

You could start with that as a baseline exposure (1/60",f/11,ISO 100) and adjust from there. Oh, and it's not strictly necessary, but I shot these on a tripod too. With a Canon 30D and 85mm f/1.8 lens.

Fog can be hard to photograph. It takes just the right light and a good eye. Well done.

I like the black and white, but I like that last one with the green grass on the bank, too. Slightly different mood. Very well done.

All are beautiful, peaceful.

I think I like the black and white as it helps the eye really focus on the fog. Great shots!

Love all the shots! I was going to say I think the black and white has the most atmosphere, but now have decided each shot shot has a special atmosphere!

Fog is elusive and wandering and not always the easiest to catch. but you did a lovely job!

The fog has been beautiful the last couple of mornings (and nights). I love that I can hear the foghorns from my apartment.

BTW, although I really like all of the pictures, I'm most drawn to the B&W.

All beautiful - but I like the last one - it still has a little of the b/w effect - but a splash of muted color.

I also prefer the colour version.

These are very dramatic with all the mist. The color is great!

I'm a real fan of b/w, but the soft cool blues in the color shot are gorgeous, I think that's my favorite. Hmm, now I'm hedging; they're both good!

Oh wow..those are beautiful...Mine is more mundane...

I love the first one. The reflections give it that extra punch. I sense expectation.
I like the color one of the next two for the same reason. The green accentuates the fog for me in that one.
All are very nice.

I like them all but the fog of the first photo is more visible.

I normally prefer color, but B&W seems to suit this one well.
