Rhinoceros

I think this is an amazing animal in that it's huge and just doesn't look like most other animals. When you stand looking at this thing you can't help but be a little in awe. Did you know there are five types of Rhinos? They are the White Rhinoceros, the Indian, the Black, the Javan and the Sumatran Rhinoceros. The one pictured below is, I believe, the Indian Rhino.

The bad thing is that I can't look at a rhino without remembering the scene in the movie Ace Venture Pet Detective done by that silly Jim Carey. I had to add a clip to remind you or show you if you haven't seen it before.

That's the Indian. I was once hiking in southern Nepal at dusk and got chased by one of those. The ground was shaking - plants and small trees were flying in its wake - I remembered to zigzag from the many Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom episodes I watched as a kid as Marlan Perkins watched poor Jim do, time and time again, from the safety of his jeep.

Interesting info...thanks! This poor guy looks a bit under fed. Is it just the photo? I don't see a tusk... a function of age I presume.

Amazing photos. Can you believe I put that creature on my Christmas list one year when I was a little girl. I got a stuffed animal one instead........Smart parents!
