This is Some Kind of Bird!

I finally went to the bird show at the zoo. I swear it was over so fast it wasn't funny. LOL! It lasted about 20 minute but it seemed more like 5 minutes. It wasn't bad. I wish there had been more to it. I had to share a couple of photos of this bird. Even as I was looking at it it didn't look real to me. It looked like something they created for a movie and I did my ususal, forgot to pay attention to what kind of bird it was.

While I was waiting to get in the zoo I asked a woman if I could take some pictures of her children. I just emailed her some of the shots I took and couldn't resist posting this one because I thought it was adorable.

I have no idea what kind of bird that is, but it certainly is eye-catching. So are the little children in the final photo. Wonder if they were hamming it up for the photographer or if they really are so loving toward each other.

I've been to that bird show, and if I remember correctly this bird is a pretty funny guy. It's a hornbill of some sort, but I forget the exact species.

That is such a weird looking bird! The neck looks as if it has blue contours!

And those photos of the children are just brilliant!

We have Ground Hornbills like that here too 2sweetnsaxy. Beautiful birds which eat snakes and large insects. I had one in my side bar last week. When mature the pouch under the throat goes red.

Hi, I have been enjoying your site and was delighted to see the ground hornbills. I think these must be the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill. The African Ground Hornbill has red wattles. They are endangered and we had some on our farm in Zimbabwe, a lifetime ago. They were always a delight to see.
