Today's Flower - Matilija Poppy

I thought I'd post the flower that's in my header. It's called a Matilija Poppy, is native to Northwestern America, and grows up to about 8 feet tall. The bush in my first photo was just slight taller than I am and I'm 5'4". It blooms between May and July.

I love white flowers. And the little pompom gives it such character. Love shades of white. The crinkliness of the petals is like a bridal material.

Any poppy to me is absolutely incredible because they're hard to grow around here and are pretty rare in yards.

These are stunning. Wow. Your shots are remarkable!

A very beautiful flower, is it a variant of Papaver somnifera?

That is a beautiful plant. It may be native to NW US, where I live, but I have never seen it. Impressive, and well photographed.
