I love the black and white stripes of a zebra. Thought I would share something I just learned. The name "zebra" comes from the Old Portuguese word zevra which means "wild ass".

This one looks like it is laughing but actually, it was reaching for some leaves that were hanging over its head.

Those are fine stripes! If you look at them long enough, your vision gets blurred! :)
Last one looks really funny!
Cheers, Klaus
I'm a big fan of zebras, too, but I never knew the origin of the name. Thanks for that. I like the close-up "head shot" above. Very nice portrait.

Klaus - Those stripes do have a tendency to run together after a while. :-D I think that last one is funny too. :-)
Bobbie - Thank you! I can't believe it has those little whiskers. LOL!
He he he... he almost looks like a Mr. Ed in that last photo! Wild ass indeed! :c)
So often zebra shots are a mess...these are superb! Love the one where he's laughing at us...or is he objecting :-)
Jayne - LOL! He does rather look like Mr. Ed. :-D
June - Thank you. I think I definitely lucked up on that laughing photo.
