I had a pretty good bird day even though I wasn't looking for them. Please correct me if I got the names wrong on the hawk and waxwings. Click on any image for a larger view.
CEDAR WAXWING
I was up at the lake watching someone feed the ducks, trying to capture one of the gulls in flight and heard all of these birds chirping. I looked up in the tree and it was absolutely full of birds, like fruit on the tree. I wish one of my shots of all of the birds had come out. This is what the tree was full of:
PLUSH CRESTED JAY
I took this at the arboretum at the zoo. The little blue beauty isn't always visible when I go. It's difficult for me to get a good shot of this one because of it's dark blue colors. These aren't perfect but they're not bad either.
RED SHOULDERED HAWK
This is another one I lucked up on at the zoo. I was looking at the seals when this large bird flew over head. My eyes followed it and I watched in land in a nearby tree. It let me get close enough to take a few shots. It watched me and then when it got bored of me, took off. I absolutely love the eyes on this bird.

Wonderful pictures. The blue on the jay is incredible.
Birds are difficult to take pictures of - in my opionon - but these are great! The Hawk has very intens eyes! All the shots are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic shots of the birds! And what variety too.
I actually saw two beautiful robins in a tree by our house today - odd I thought as it is the middle of winter and I have never seen them so early before. Wanted to get the camera and capture them in the beautiful snow covered branches, but I would have been late to work :(
Great bird photos! I especially like the first one. Thanks for sharing.
These are great! Those hawk shots are so clear and detailed! I love the waxwings...they are such beautiful birds.
Fantastic shots TB. I love the raptors.
Great captures. We have Cedar Waxwings around here but I haven't been lucky enough to spot any yet. Your other photos are wonderful too.
Oh, that jay is just exquisite!!
I think you have captured these birds beautifully! And the jay is a species I had not known of. The colur of the Red-shoulder Hawk is gorgeous!! That is hawk species that I have only actually seen twice. This is a lovely post!
I love that first photo of the waxwing! The way it is reaching for the berry! I have never heard of that jay, either, but he is a beautiful bird. And the detail on the hawk is incredible!
