I was a little disappointed visually with Bolsa Chica but in the end it didn't disappoint. I'm reposting the first picture to go with my story. I was so used to the settings of a botanical garden I wasn't prepared for the openness of this. Pacific Coast Highway and the beach are on the right. Then there is the water from the reserved in the middle and the walkway along the edge on the left.
This was one of the first photos I took, some greenery right on the edge of the cliff. The background is actually the water below.
These are some students on a field trip on their way back to the bus.
This is all I was looking at and I couldn't help thinking, "Is this all there is?" I didn't let it go to waste so I shot the photos below whenever I saw something move. Keep in mind that the palm trees in the shot below is where my unknow destination but just the beginning.
I started to turn around and go back but I kept thinking there must be more to this and I should at least reach the palm trees before I turned around. The shot below is at what I'd call the top of the hill because I had not realized I was walking an incline. In this shot the palm trees are on the left of me.
Post #2 will show the things I saw after reaching this spot.

I'm glad you pushed through the 1st impression of your visit there - You captured some great photos - The bunny is so sweet & the flowers are very pretty! Very cool post!
wow that's really pretty--where exactly is it?

Wow, I used to go here all the time when I lived in Long Beach. I had a lot of old friends here, Clapper Rail, Forstor's Turns, Humming Birds, and would you believe this is where I got my life Harlequin Duck? I have lots of memories of going here. This was between '86 and '89.
What kind of bird is that in the middle of the series? Very striking!
The suspense is killing me! :)
Lovely shots!
Tricia - I'm glad I pushed through too. I'll definitely be returning and this time I'll have my batteries charged at full capacity.
Laurieluc - It's in Huntington Beach, Southern California right on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).
Steve B - I had no idea it's been there that long. I just found out about it a couple of weeks ago.
Mojo - I haven't tried to find out what kind of bird it was. I wish I could have got a better shot of the color on it's wings. It was beautiful!
Carletta - It's coming. I needed to respond to some comments before I got carried away. :-) I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up.
Wow..what a great place! I bet you go back there a lot. Love the bunny and squirrel and flower and birds and just everything! Great post!

Some beautiful shots TB cant wait to see the rest as I know they are going to be excellent. :)
thanks for answering my question about your camera. I have two digitals that are older and on the lower end of the SLR range. They are good cameras but not the high MP that newer ones are. Someday, God willing, I'll get a true dig SLR that I can change lenses. I miss my old 55 mm with filters and dif lenses. I still have 'em but they're dinasours now.
Have a great Thursday!

I LOVE the REd Winged Blackbird and the yellow flowers!!
Great shots!!
I think it's probably no surprise which one of the photos is my favourite...
The squirrel! Delightful photo -- how far away were you when you took the photo?
I just looked at all of your Bolsa Chica posts. I had never heard of this place before, but I certainly would love to visit it after reading through your posts. What a nature photographer's paradise! Thanks for the excellent tour!
